Maureen Mountcastle

Career Summary

Maureen graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a BA in Dramatic Art. She began her career in musical theater and then segued into film/tv/print after taking a hiatus to raise her children. Her work includes commercials, film and television. She has been an executive producer for one feature film Train Wreck directed by Andy Lane and a short film called Suit Yourself. She currently has a tv pilot in development.

Maureen's daughter Marley inherited the performer gene. When Marley was 10 she got cast in a world wide Disney tour (USA,UK and Puerto Rico) of Bear in the Big Blue House. It was her second audition ever and all of the sudden there were some serious decisions to make about her future. Maureen found herself in need of some advice. She had to navigate the world of being a stage mom which was new to her. She had to learn about on location education, and how to support her daughter who played two roles, was in almost every single number and even had to learn the show in Spanish! It was overwhelming and baptism by fire but the lessons learned proved to be invaluable . Her consulting began with friends who had children in the business needing advise on how to get their child started without wasting time and money. Maureen guided them towards working with reputable people. Her love of children and helping people realize their dreams lead her to consulting. She began teaching classes as the demand grew.  The majority of her students have now secured representation and are beginning to book roles.

One advantage that distinguishes Maureen from other area coaches is that she has been represented as an actor by Talent One, Marilyn's and currently STW Talent Agency. Maureen has maintained great working relationships with each of those agencies as well as a few other NC based Children's talent agencies. She refers those students she believes have potential and ability to work in the industry. Along with her agent and casting director connections, Maureen also works as a line producing for a few production companies in Wilmington. This is occasionally beneficial for her students as she quite frequently finds the talent for local commercials. If they fit the break down and are ready Maureen will submit them thus solving the age old chicken and the egg actor’s dilemma. How do I get a reel if I don’t yet have an agent? How do I get an agent without a reel? This is the path we enjoy illuminating at “Lumina Talent Development”.
